New Year Celebration Sparklers

And just like that we are about to celebrate the New Year! I hope that you all had a lovely time over the festivities with your loved ones.

I don’t know about you, but my fridge is crammed full of cheese and left over vegetables, not to mention all the stashes of chocolate. So in the spirit of eating up all the left overs I have come up with a fun New Year party idea that will help use up some of the excess!

I’m sure the last thing you want to be doing is too much cooking, so if that is the case - good news, this is easy peasy!

A top tip to hold the pretzel sticks upright, whilst the chocolate sets, is to punch holes into a cardboard box (an egg box would suffice) using a pencil or chop stick.

Celebration Sparklers

100g chocolate, roughly chopped (An opportunity to use up tree decorations or chocolate coins)

20 pretzel sticks

sprinkles to decorate, go glitzy with edible gold stars or bronze sprinkles.

  • Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl suspended over a pan of simmering water, don’t let the bottom of the bowl touch the water as the chocolate may seize.

  • Transfer the melted chocolate into a narrow glass, this will make the chocolate deeper and therefore easier to coat the pretzels.

  • Dip half the pretzel into the melted chocolate and then sprinkle over your fancy sprinkles.

  • Stand the pretzel sticks up in your prepared box and leave to set.

  • Serve with a chilled glass of fizz…because why not!?

All that’s left more me to say is Happy New Year! Thank you for all the support this year and following along on my adventure of creating Sky Meadow Bakery. I am looking forward to sharing many more delicious recipes with you in 2018.
